These suggestions are intended to act as a catalyst to target qualified prospects.

  1. Have an anniversary celebration, perhaps on the anniversary of the facility.
  2. Have a candle lit dinner for your top twenty leads.
  3. Celebrate an autumn festival, an October fest.
  4. Plan a groundbreaking ceremony, either for the initial construction or any new additions.
  5. Have a Grand Opening Open House.
  6. Throw a festive holiday theme party, and make St. Patrick’s Day or Valentine’s Day an event for potential residents.
  7. Host a lunchtime learning seminar at a local factory or a large corporation. It could be something for “You and Your Aging Parent”.
  1. Put on an Old Time Revival or a Gospel Sing.
  2. Participate in a Parade of Homes
  3. Gather people at your community for a pig roast. This events is ideal for including everyone, i.e., residents, families, invited prospects, referral sources and other local VIPs.
  4. An especially powerful tool is to host a resident referral party.  The residents enjoy it and they can be your best referral sources.
  5. Plan seminars for your target populations. Topics might include You and Your Aging Parent, Veterans Benefits, Estate Planning, How to Talk to your Doctor, Health Care in the 21st Century, Medicare: What You Need to Know, Alzheimer’s: Facts and Fiction, Planning for Retirement, and other health-related topics.
  6. Throw a special diner, piggybacking of off your monthly resident event.  Invite the top leads.
  7. Sponsor support groups at your facility. Subjects could be caregiving, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, etc.
  8. Provide lunch for Sunday School classes.  Let them use any available space for their study and speak to their group at lunchtime.
  9. Schedule town meetings.  These are best used in the pre-opening phase to introduce your facility.
